This is another Motivation Monday Video.

It slipped my mind to post it on the Website but I did however post it on the Total Body Training You Tube Page. In this video I talk to you about Overcoming your Obstacles. No matter what your goal is you are bound to face some kind of obstacle. It can be pretty overwhelming to achieve your goals especially when obstacles keep showing up to slow your progress down. I know that in the past I had a lot of trials in my life that made achieving goals challenging.

It seemed like the moment I set out to do any goal there would immediately be a ton of unexpected or expected hurdles I would have to jump just to even get started much less complete the objective. I think about my fitness a lot. All through out most of my life I have taken poor care of myself. In high school I lost some weight but in college gained a bit back. It was a real struggle to get my self to the gym. I was after all a full time student and a fulltime worker. But here is the thing….What  I wish I had completely realized was that no matter what, I needed to make time to Workout. Working out would make me feel better and deep down I knew it but I wasnt willing to take on the obstacle of scheduling my life more efficiently so that I could make it to the school gym. A gym that I had a free membership too. A gym , that was within walking distance of my apartment and near all of the building I took class in.  I kept waiting for the magical moment when I would have time to workout. While it was completely true that I had a busy schedule , it is also simultaneously true that I needed to make time to workout. I need to overcome this obstacle. The Obstacle was clear. I needed to schedule my life better so that I could actually get into the gym.

After college I felt awful my body was in shambles. I was gaining weight and had poor self esteem because of it. The moment I stopped making excuses with time was the moment I started changing. I was taking on this obstacle that was scheduling. I would work out no matter what. I made time for myself to make it happen. I could even argue that after college I became even busier with work and work and more work. I learned how to manage my time better. When I finally started changing my perspective this obstacle of time became the way for me to achieve my goal. This was the obstacle that I need to overcome in order to become a stronger version of myself. What changed in me was simple. I had excepted that time could no longer hold me back. The obstacle became the way. 

Sometime last year I read this incredible book called “The Obstacle is the Way ” by Ryan Holiday. The book helped me understand that obstacle should be look at as a good thing. There is a quote in the book that I love. The Quote is by Marcus Arulius  “The impediment to action becomes the action. What stands in the way becomes the way. The obstacle is the way. ” This single quote has been a guiding proverb for my personal and business life. It such a strong and true statemeant.

Anyways, I wish that I had know this stuff when I was first starting my fitness journey. Had I know it maybe I could be farther along in my progress but you know what ? Who cares! What matters is the present. So, if you are feeling what I am saying here do not hesitate with your goals. Except your obstacles with some since of excitement or at the very least, a since of decisiveness that will push you through the tough times. You can do it. I know you can but do you?
