Hey people, I’m sorry but I had to take a break from writing and producing this podcast. However, I am back with 6 new episodes and I plan on staying on track with this for the foreseeable future. I will also be releasing an episode that explains where I went and why I stopped making the episode. However, in the meantime, this episode is about working out from home. Why am I talking about working out from home? Well, it’s currently 4/20/2020 and we are in the middle of the coronavirus epidemic.
We have been asked to quarantine ourselves so that we can flatten the curve and stay safe. I am all for flattening the curve and I think it’s important for us to stay home. In the meantime though, I think a lot of people are feeling frustrated about the fact that they cant go to the gym anymore.
I, of course, had to close Total Body Training and I’m not sure when we will be reopening our doors. However, in the meantime, I want to share with you 4 ways that I think you could stay on track with working out from home. Here are my suggestions.
1. Do steady-state cardio.
There are a lot of people go to the gym just to use a treadmill, bike, elliptical, or rowing machine. Many people just go to the gym and use that kind of workout equipment for an hour and then they leave. If you are that kind of person then you probably are not missing out that badly. All you have to do is go for a jog outdoors or go biking. Find something that gets your heart rate up and is comparable to what you did in the gym and you should be good to go. Plus, it might be good for you to get outdoors and enjoy a little sunshine.
I sort of put tips 2 and 3 together.
2. Do Body Weight HIIT workouts at home
3. Use YouTube Body Weight HIIT
Workouts or write your own bodyweight HIIT workouts to do at home. If you arent familiar with a HIIT then let me tell what it is. HIIT stands for High-Intensity Interval Training. HIIT Workouts are short explosive workouts that involve plyometrics movements such as squat jumps or burpees. there are all sorts of different kinds of HIITT styles and workouts that you can do from home. One of the coolest things about HIIT workouts is that many of them are bodyweight workouts you can do from home. I think one of the best things about these home workouts is that HIIT workouts are generally short. I mean many HIIT workouts are just 15 or 20 minutes long So, there is no reason why you can do these workouts at home. Just make sure to Find a HIIT workout series is made for you to do at home without equipment and you’ll be good to go. Actually, I have my own HIIT workout series. Here is a link to the Total Body Training Home workout series.

If you would like to check out some other channels then I strongly recommend you check out the Redefining Strengths channel. She posts a lot of cool movements that you can incorporate into your own HIIT Workouts. Here is a link to here page.
I would recommend using her as a source for selecting movements you would like to put together to create your own HIIT workouts. It actually is kind of fun for you to pick out some new exercises you can do at home without workout equipment. 4. Sign up for live online home workout classes. There are millions of free HIIT workouts you can find on YouTube. If you are doing workouts and you feel like you aren’t progressing then chances are you need to get with some sort of personal trainer online or perhaps a live online home workout class. The reason I say that is because despite the fact that you are working out you might not be working out correctly. Meaning maybe you aren’t pushing yourself enough or maybe your workouts are not organized in a linear fashion. All of those things can be resolved if you are willing to get with a personal trainer or coach online. Now, there are a variety of services and classes that you can take from home. The cool things are that many of them have bodyweight workout options or options where the send you equipment for you to work out with the classes from home. one example of this would be Peloton Cycling classesHere is a link to their classes.
