“I’m not progressing as I want to. Sure, I’m losing weight… but I want to lose MORE WEIGHT. DAMN IT.” –Erica
This podcast is based on a conversation with my client, Erica. She’s had amazing success with her nutrition and strength training. Until that one day, when the doubt rolled in. After a deep conversation about why she was having these feelings, I gave her some tips. These are just some of the tips I suggested that may work for you.
Have you lost perspective? Review the facts, how much weight are you supposed to be losing week to week, are you committed to your diet. If you are meeting the requirements of your nutrition plan, why do you feel like you need to be losing more weight?
Your progress is your progress. If you are having success with the plan you are on, why want something that someone else has? It’s not productive conversation and may lead to self-sabotage. Remember the factors. Maybe the person you are comparing yourself to may has other factors that are contributing to their perceived success. When you compare, you don’t really know what’s going on.
If two people are put on the same exact plan… but one is losing weight more rapidly. What if one of those people isn’t following the program? What if the person losing more than you is cutting more calories or stops losing weight at a rapid pace later? What if there’s a medical issue you don’t know about? These are great questions to ask.
Take a moment and look at why you are feeling this way. Is there a hater in your life that are causing doubts? Are you following your plan 100%? Are you reaching your weekly goals set forth with your plan?
Remember this mantra: “I don’t seek approval of others who don’t understand my goals.” If you let other people dictate what you are doing… then you will be at the whim of every one else. Just take a moment and look at yourself, your journey, and your commitment. Compare yourself to yourself. Did you hit your weight loss goal for the week? Did you stick to your plan?
Yo! I’m not a licensed therapist, I just talk about real shit that’s happened to me and my clients.
